Our hometown is known for a lot of different things: Flight, The National Museum of the U.S. Air Force, Paul Lawrence Dunbar (a famous poet) and entrepreneur John Patterson, who created a TON of companies in Dayton that are still afloat today.
In a more modern sense, Dayton has come to be known for their craft beer scene, as well as wine! This industry has truly helped Dayton rise from the dust and begin to gain more popularity throughout Ohio.
So where are the BEST places to visit in our city for food & drinks?! Here are just a few of our favorites (;
Ele Cake Bistro & Wine Bar
We all know Ele Cake Bistro and Wine Bar has the best cake/cupcakes around. But did you know that they also serve an amazing selection of delicious food & wine?! They just opened a brand new location at Austin Landing and it is a must-visit! Their outdoor patio overlooks the park and the twinkling lights make it a great place for a first date….or 22nd (;
Not only does Lily’s have amazing brunch, lunch & dinner menu’s, they also serve a Sunday Chicken Dinner and host events! Lily’s is a great place for an employee luncheon or friends birthday party.
A message from Lily’s Bistro: “We work with many local purveyors to support our fellow small businesses, and feature farm to table produce as much as possible. Because we change our menu seasonally, we are able to source a great deal of regional products–every menu is a reflection of the current season in the Midwest, and our embracing the season means the food, cocktails, beer, and wine list all change to be a reflection of the time of year.”
So yes, they also have an awesome cocktail and beer menu! You guys have to check this place in the Oregon District SOON!
Now, this little local Greenville favorite is a bit of a drive for us, since it’s pretty much out in the middle of nowhere. But Maid-Rite lovers will drive whatever distance to get their favorite ‘burger’.
I say ‘burger’ with quotations because, as you can see from the photo above, it’s a little different than a normal hamburger patty. It’s more crumbly and loose. But not as loose as, say, a Sloppy Joe. No matter the consistency, it tastes like an amazing delicious burger. Add some Mikesell’s potato chips and a pop and you’re good to go!
Cake, Hope and Love: a bakery that gives back
It’s time for some dessert!!
This bakery serves tasty treats to customers, all while using their profits to help charities/non-profit organizations, make lives of local children and their families a little sweeter. They campaign with local charities and partner with their customers to make the community sweeter, one cupcake at a time!
How amazing is this idea?! There’s really no better way to lighten someones day.
In addition to their delicious cupcakes, they also create awesome & very unique cakes, brownies, & wedding cakes!
This is definitely one of our favorite breweries in downtown Dayton. Warped Wing is a huge craft beer distributor and are known for their super artistic cans. Their most well-known brews are the Ermal’s Belgian Style Cream Ale, 10-Ton Oatmeal Stout, and Flyin’ Rye IPA.
The venue is in an old warehouse on Wyandot St. You can play Giant Jenga, Foosball, pinball, and many other games. Their kitchen opened up a few months ago and is ROCKIN’ it. The pizza is amazing and so are the tater-tots (;
Now it’s time to take all of your friends from out-of-town to visit these awesome places! Get dressed up in some of your favorite TayMo pieces and go out!
